Blog EntryI salute JK Rowling!Jul 22, '07 3:56 AM
for everyone

No, no spoilers here! I just want to give out a big CONGRATULATIONS! :D After about a decade of waiting, the Harry Potter series is complete!

I tend to be very critical about the books (& don't even get me started on the movies :P) but one has to hand it to Jo... She knows how to take her readers for a ride. She knows how to make her characters mature, from precocious little pre-teens to young adults wise beyond their years. She captures her readers & keeps them hanging in just the right way. Her writing may not have the splendor & aesthetic brilliance of JRR Tolkien, but her words are colorful & vibrant - candy for bookworms!

I am going to miss this series, I'm going to miss the characters I feel like I've grown up with... But looking at my lovely 7 books, looking at the final arc of the story, gives a feeling like I've just destroyed 7 Horcruxes myself. :D

I take off my witch's hat, send up colorful wand sparks in the air, set off a huge box of Fred & George's fireworks, & raise my bottle of butterbeer to JK Rowling & the Harry Potter series! Congratulations!

Fellow Potter fans, CHEERS!!!

EventHarry Potter & the Deathly Hallows Book LaunchJul 19, '07 12:43 AM
for everyone
Start:     Jul 21, '07
Location:     Fully Booked, Bonifacio High Street, Bonifacio Global City

Pinoy Harry Potter (Hogwarts Philippines), in cooperation with Fully Booked, present Deathly Hallows: Destiny’s Hand - The “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” Book Launch.

Celebrate the release of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”, the 7th and final installment of J.K. Rowling’s phenomenal series, with members of Pinoy Harry Potter (Hogwarts Philippines), the biggest Harry Potter fan organization in the country. Spend a magical day making your own wand, getting Sorted to a House, learning Potter-themed arts and crafts, attending educational talks, participating in a discussion panel, and playing Potter-themed games. We will also be awarding the winners of the “Magic (Art)Works!” Art Contest.

We know all you want to do on July 21 is rush home and read your book, but we hope you stay and have fun with us because this might well be the last celebration of this kind we’ll ever have… until we can all convince J.K. Rowling to release another book about the Potter World. Who knows when that will be?

So come and party with us on Saturday, 21 July 2007, at Fully Booked’s shiny new flagship store (which may well rival Flourish and Blotts) at Bonifacio High Street in Bonifacio Global City. Fully Booked will be a Book 7 Spoiler-free Zone on July 21. We will start the celebrations at 7:00am, and we will be partying on until 8:00pm. Only then will we all be finally flooing home to shut ourselves up in our rooms to read Book 7!
